Until recently, Beauty's relationship with nature was extractive. Now, a profound reversal is underway. The industry is moving from doing less harm to actively giving back, through three interconnected shifts: biomimicry, which replicates nature's 3.8 billion years of biological intelligence to create more effective and less invasive formulas; upcycling, which transforms agricultural and food industry waste into high-value ingredients, with launches up 196% since 2020; and regenerative sourcing, which designs supply chains that restore biodiversity rather than deplete it. This session explores what it means for beauty to become truly nature-positive, from lab fermentation and biotech-grown actives to ingredients with a positive carbon footprint. It also asks what the next generation of formulation science owes to the planet it depends on and how to prove those commitments
